WARDOGS System Requirements: Minimum and Recommended PC Specs
Official WARDOGS PC system requirements from Steam: minimum and recommended CPU, GPU, RAM, storage, and target performance for the 100-player tactical FPS.
What are the official WARDOGS system requirements?
BULKHEAD and Team17 have published the PC system requirements on the official Steam store page. WARDOGS launches in Steam Early Access on September 10, 2026 and is Windows PC only at launch — there are no confirmed macOS, Linux, or console versions.
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 (64-bit) | Windows 11 (64-bit) |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-8600 / AMD Ryzen 5 3500 | Intel Core i7-12700K / AMD Ryzen 7 5700X |
| Memory | 16 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | Nvidia GTX 1660 / AMD Radeon RX 590 | Nvidia RTX 3070 / AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT |
| Network | Broadband Internet connection | Broadband Internet connection |
| Storage | 50 GB available space | 50 GB available space |
| Performance target | 1080p Low @ 60fps (upscaled) | 1440p Medium @ 70fps+ (native) or 4K Medium @ 60fps+ (upscaled) |
Both tiers require a 64-bit processor and operating system. The performance targets in the last row come straight from Steam’s “Additional Notes” field and are worth reading carefully: the minimum spec reaches 60fps at 1080p Low with upscaling enabled, not natively.
What do these specs mean in practice?
A few honest observations about the table above:
- The CPU requirement is the real gate. WARDOGS runs 100-player, three-team battles across a randomized 2×2 km Control Zone, with vehicles, destruction, and logistics all simulating at once. That is why the recommended tier jumps to a 12-core-class i7-12700K or Ryzen 7 5700X while the GPU jump is more modest. Large-player-count shooters are almost always CPU-bound before they are GPU-bound.
- 16 GB of RAM covers both tiers. If you are building or upgrading a PC for WARDOGS, spending on CPU and GPU matters more than going past 16 GB right now. The Steam page does not list 32 GB at either tier.
- The minimum GPU is older mid-range hardware. A GTX 1660 or RX 590 is a 2019-era card, so most gaming PCs from the last several years can run the game — the trade-off is upscaling at 1080p Low.
- You need 50 GB of free storage. Steam does not list an SSD as a hard requirement. That said, as general guidance rather than an official spec, installing any large modern shooter on an SSD reduces load times and texture-streaming stutter, and 50 GB at launch will likely grow as Early Access adds content.
Why does WARDOGS need this much hardware?
The confirmed feature set explains the floor. Matches put up to 100 players in 3 teams on one map. The environment supports destruction and fortification building, which means the game tracks a changing battlefield rather than a static one. There are 21 vehicles at EA launch, including helicopters, plus proximity voice chat processing audio for nearby players. Each of those systems adds CPU simulation and memory pressure on top of rendering.
BULKHEAD also states on the Steam page that “improving balance, performance, and stability” is its ongoing priority throughout Early Access, so optimization work is part of the plan — but you should buy for the specs as published today, not for hoped-for future optimization.
What if your PC is below the minimum?
Nothing here is official advice from BULKHEAD — it is general guidance drawn from the published performance targets:
- The minimum target already assumes upscaling, so expect to use your GPU vendor’s upscaler (or the in-game equivalent) from day one on lower-end hardware.
- Drop resolution before dropping every other setting; the jump from 1440p to 1080p is the single biggest lever on most systems.
- Close background applications — with 16 GB listed at both tiers, free memory headroom matters.
- Once Early Access begins, follow our performance guide and best settings pages, where we will test real settings on real hardware and keep recommendations current per patch.
If your CPU is below an i5-8600 or Ryzen 5 3500, be cautious about pre-purchasing: in 100-player battles the CPU, not the GPU, is the component you cannot easily tune around with settings.
Will the system requirements change during Early Access?
Possibly. Early Access specifications are a snapshot, not a contract. BULKHEAD plans 1 to 2 years of Early Access with more maps, weapons, vehicles (including fighter jets), and deeper progression systems, plus ongoing performance work. Requirements can shift in either direction as content is added and optimization lands.
