WARDOGS Best Settings
WARDOGS is not out yet, so no settings are confirmed. Here is what BULKHEAD has shown plus a pre-launch checklist for FOV, frame rate, audio, and controllers.
Which WARDOGS settings are confirmed so far?
Honest answer first: none. WARDOGS launches into Steam Early Access on September 10, 2026, and BULKHEAD has not published the game’s settings menus, so any site listing exact WARDOGS graphics values today is guessing. This page does something more useful: it lays out what the developers have confirmed about the game, what that implies for your setup, and a checklist to apply the moment real options are verified at launch.
What is confirmed that affects settings: battles of up to 100 players on 2×2 km Control Zones, fully destructible environments, flyable helicopters, proximity voice chat, and a Windows PC release on Steam. Large player counts and destruction are the two factors that historically tax both CPU and GPU hardest, and they should drive every settings decision you make.
What should your video settings prioritize?
Based on what BULKHEAD has shown, apply this checklist once the settings menu is public:
- Frame rate over fidelity. In a 100-player fight, a stable frame rate wins more gunfights than prettier shadows. When Early Access launches, find the heaviest options — typically shadows, effects, and view-distance-related settings in large-scale shooters — and lower those first before touching textures.
- Field of view. Tactical shooters on large maps almost always ship with an FOV slider. Plan to test a wider FOV for scanning open 2×2 km zones, then dial back until targets at range stay readable. We will publish tested values at launch.
- Clarity options. Whatever the game calls them, settings that reduce visual clutter — post-processing, motion blur, film grain — are worth turning off first for spotting enemies in rubble and dust.
- Destruction-related effects. Destruction is a headline feature, so expect debris and physics load during big fights. If frame drops appear specifically when buildings come down, effects and physics-adjacent settings are your first suspects.
- Display mode and refresh rate. Plan to use exclusive fullscreen if the game offers it, and match the in-game refresh rate to your monitor — in a large-scale shooter, every bit of input-latency reduction matters in close fights.
Check our Performance Guide for the hardware side of the same problem, and the system requirements page for what your PC needs before launch. If you are still deciding on hardware, prioritize the components those pages flag rather than buying for graphics settings alone.
How should you set up audio for proximity voice?
Proximity voice chat is confirmed, which makes audio a competitive setting, not a comfort one. Once the options are live:
- Use a headset so positional audio and nearby voices stay distinct.
- Look for separate sliders for voice chat, effects, and music, and keep voice clearly audible over explosions.
- Check whether voice is open-mic or push-to-talk, and decide before your first match — your squad will thank you.
What about controller and HOTAS support?
Controller support is one of the most repeated questions on r/WarDogs, alongside HOTAS setups for the confirmed flyable helicopters. Neither has a confirmed answer yet. If you plan to fly, wait for launch-day confirmation before buying hardware, and see our Helicopter Controls guide for what is known. We will update both pages the moment BULKHEAD confirms input support.
Where will verified settings appear at launch?
When Early Access opens on September 10, 2026, we will test the real menus and update this page with exact, labeled settings and values. Until then, watch the official Steam page, the official Discord, and our patch notes hub. Common launch-day answers will also land in the FAQ.
