WARDOGS Release Date: Early Access Launches September 10, 2026
WARDOGS enters Steam Early Access on September 10, 2026 for Windows PC. Confirmed release date, Early Access content, pricing plans, and how to play early.
When is the WARDOGS release date?
WARDOGS releases in Steam Early Access on September 10, 2026, on Windows PC. The date is confirmed on the official Steam store page and on the Team17 game page. The game is developed by BULKHEAD and published by Team17.
Early Access is a deliberate choice, not a delay. On the Steam page, BULKHEAD explains that Early Access lets the studio “put a fully playable FPS in players’ hands early, gather meaningful feedback, and iterate alongside the community,” with players able to reach the developers via Discord, X, and YouTube. The studio expects WARDOGS to remain in Early Access for around 1 to 2 years, though it stresses it does not want the game to stay there longer than necessary.
There is no confirmed console release date at this time. If BULKHEAD or Team17 announce additional platforms, this page will be updated.
What does the Early Access version include?
BULKHEAD has confirmed the Early Access launch content in its developer communications:
- 37 weapons — see our weapons database as entries are verified after launch.
- 21 vehicles, including helicopters and transport options — tracked in our vehicles database.
- 3 maps, each with 3 variations — browse them on the maps page.
On top of that content, the Steam page describes the current Early Access state as fully playable and representative of the core vision:
- A 100-player, three-team experience.
- Large-scale maps with dynamic objective zones — the randomized 2×2 km Control Zone.
- Cash and XP-based progression where every action earns rewards. Players start with a persistent $10,000 balance and purchase a fresh loadout for each deployment — read our cash economy explainer.
- Realistic gunplay “balanced for gameplay rather than simulation.”
- Vehicles, logistics systems, and support-focused gameplay.
- Online multiplayer with proximity voice chat.
Destruction and fortification building are also part of the core experience, letting squads reshape the battlefield instead of just moving across it.
What will be added during Early Access?
According to the Early Access FAQ on the Steam store page, the full version is planned to be “broader and more polished” than the Early Access release. BULKHEAD lists these expansion areas:
- More maps, weapons, and vehicles, plus general gameplay variety.
- Deeper progression systems and a stronger seasonal metagame.
- Additional systems that reward time and impact in a match, “whether through combat, support, or logistics.”
- New vehicle types including fighter jets, expanded weapon categories, and additional objective variations.
- Ongoing improvements to balance, performance, and stability, which the studio calls its constant priority.
We track every confirmed change on the patch notes page once Early Access begins.
How much will WARDOGS cost?
BULKHEAD has stated on Steam that WARDOGS “is planned to be priced lower during Early Access, with a higher price at full release to reflect the more complete experience.” So buying in early is intended to be cheaper than waiting for 1.0.
As of this writing, a global USD price has not been formally announced. Steam has opened pre-purchase listings in some regions — the Japanese store, for example, shows ¥4,980 — so check the Steam store page for the exact price in your region. We will not speculate on pricing beyond what the store and the developers publish.
How can you play WARDOGS before or at launch?
You have three official routes in:
- Sign up for community playtests. The official playtest signup is open and asks players to wishlist the game and join the community Discord.
- Wishlist on Steam. WARDOGS passed 1 million Steam wishlists within six months of its reveal, which BULKHEAD celebrated publicly. Wishlisting also gets you notified the moment Early Access goes live.
- Join the community. The official Discord is where BULKHEAD says it will gather feedback, and r/WarDogs is the main player-run community for discussion, LFG, and guides.
The official gameplay trailer is embedded at the bottom of this page if you want a look at actual moment-to-moment play rather than the cinematic reveal.
How should you prepare for launch day?
Early Access launches are chaotic — servers fill, metas form in hours, and early economic mistakes compound. A little preparation goes a long way:
- Read the beginner guide so your first deployments are spent learning the map, not the menus.
- Understand the cash economy before you burn your starting $10,000 on a loadout you cannot sustain.
- Learn how the Control Zone scores, since objective play is a major cash source.
- Sketch a first kit with the loadout builder and browse budget-friendly loadouts.
- Check the system requirements against your PC, and tune your setup with our best settings and performance guides.
If you still have questions — squad play, controllers, region support — check the FAQ or ask in the official Discord.
